Tibbetts Industries specializes in high-performance audio components tailored for surveillance, medical, and professional audio applications. Our product lineup includes sub-miniature microphones, precision connectors, and microphone preamplifiers, all engineered for reliability, low power consumption, and compact form factors.
Tibbetts electret microphones are a type of condenser microphone that captures sound through a vibrating diaphragm, which alters the microphone's electrical capacitance to produce an electric signal. Unlike traditional condenser microphones, which require an external power supply, electret microphones use permanently electrostatically charged elements, reducing power requirements and enabling smaller designs while maintaining excellent acoustic performance.
These high-fidelity microphones are used in a variety of applications, including hearing devices, communications headsets, surveillance, audio monitoring, lapel mics, and scientific measurements. They offer very low inherent noise, high dynamic range, and a flat frequency response, ensuring recordings closely resemble the original sound. With sensitivity as high as -33dBV/Pa, Tibbetts microphones excel in amplifying faint sounds, making them ideal for capturing soft voices, distant noises, and scientific data.
In addition to subminiature microphones, we also manufacture connector and preamplifier accessories.
The Telocate series connectors includes rugged, precision-machined 4-pin connectors designed for seamless integration with Tibbetts microphones and preamplifiers. Models include a panel mount connector, male cable-end, and female cable-end.
Our microphone preamplifers are engineered for clarity and reliability, ensuring optimal audio performance in various professional settings.
All microphones are available as raw parts or with cabled assemblies, using our connectors or a connector of your choice. Cabled assemblies can also be provided without connectors, tailored to your specifications.
Tibbetts Industries, based in Midcoast Maine, has been a leader in manufacturing state-of-the-art sub-miniature electret microphones since 1945. With decades of experience, we've perfected the blend of acoustics, electronics, material science, and manufacturing techniques to create the highest-performing microphones on the market.
Our microphones are known for their excellent sound quality and versatility, easily integrated into low-volume production runs. They are used in a wide range of applications, from hearing devices and communications headsets to surveillance, audio monitoring, scientific measurement, and high-performance lapel mics.
In addition to our world-class microphones, we also design and manufacture rugged, high-performance connectors and preamplifiers. Our precision-engineered connectors ensure reliable power and signal transmission, while our microphone preamplifiers deliver exceptional clarity and performance in even the most demanding environments.
Originally focused on the hearing aid industry, we now serve industries ranging from aerospace and forensics to Broadway productions. With meticulous attention to detail, we use advanced microscopes and highly skilled technicians to ensure our products meet the highest standards of precision and performance.
